Person that I admire

  Daniel Matamala is a chilean journalist, he was born in Valdivia on May 24, 1978.  He studied journalism at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Between 2011 and 2012 he completed a Master of Arts at Columbia University. From 2000 to 2011, Matamala worked on Canal 13, where he became known as the newsreader and the presenter of political and current affairs programs.  He is currently known for his work in Chilevision and for his opinion columns.   What I like most about his work are his opinion columns that he publishes in La Tercera and uploads to his social networks. He frequently speaks in them about relevant topics of the week, mostly political. He has a way of writing that hooks you and leaves you wanting to read his next column, and I generally share his opinion on the topics he talks about. One of his last opinion columns was "Traitor. Murderer. Terrorist. Thief. Coward." In it, he responds with facts to the declarations of the ultra-right const...

A meaningful photo for me

I chose the second topic and specifically this photo because it brings me good memories with my school friends. This photo was taken on a trip I took with my best friends in 2021. We rented a cottage in San Fabian, a small mountain town that is about 50 kilometers from my city, San Carlos. The trip was in July and at night it was very cold, luckily the cottage had a stove, without it we would have frozen haha. We were there for 3 days. In the mornings we drank "mate" and coffee to get over the cold. In the afternoons we went to the river and walked along paths in the woods. At night we played board games, drank alcohol, listened to music and many other things. Now every time we get together we fondly remember anecdotes from that trip and we already plan to repeat it this winter vacation.

My Favorite Piece of Technology

My favorite piece of technology is the cell phone. I like it because it's an electronic device that can be carried everywhere in your pocket, so it's use is very practical and useful on day to day. I also use it for many things. For example, making calls, taking photos, reading books in pdf format, sending emails, searching for information, watching the time or just for entertainment using apps like instagram and youtube.  Cell phones have affected everyone's lives, both positively and negatively. Positively, because it facilitates communication, thanks to calls and text messages on WhatsApp. On the other hand, you have to know how to use it, so as not to be aware of social networks all day.  In my opinion, having a cell phone is highly recommended, because you can access everything very quickly, be it information, calls, and emails.

Why did I choose my major?

I'm in my second year of journalism. I decided to study this career just a couple of weeks before doing the PTU.  I never had a 100% clear option, but I always knew that I wanted something humanist and that had no relation with mathematics hahaha.  At first I chose journalism because I wanted to dedicate myself to sports journalism, but now I prefer to focus on political, social and cultural issues. I also think that journalism gives you many opportunities, like working in other countries. Until now I have had a good experience in the university because I like most of the classes and I have met good people who are my friends. The only bad thing is that I'm far from my cats, my mom and my other friends.

Who am I?

I'm Vicente Carrere Araujo, but my friends call me "Carreta" and I was born on august 23, 2003.  Almost all of my life I lived in San Carlos, Ñuble, with my mom. The town is known for being the birthplace of Violeta Parra and for their sausages (longanizas). Currently I live in Ñuñoa. I love the animals especially cats, I have 2, their names are Tommy and Batman. The first one has 2 years and 7 months (his birthday is 4 days after mine), and the second one has 2 years and 2 months.  I decided to adopt Tommy in 2020 because I wanted to have a cat. The history with Batmant is different because he was a homeless cat and I adopted him of an organization that helps stray dogs and cats in San Carlos.  Lastly, my hobbies are hang out with my friends, play videogames and read books. About music my favorite artist is Gustavo Cerati.
